START-UP OF ANGUS ALES

Angus Ales — a new micro-brewery in Carnoustie — started brewing quality real ale in October 2009, for sale to discerning pubs and drinkers in the area.  This is the first brewery in the county of Angus for 50 years, and possibly the first in Carnoustie since the 1830s. 

This new venture meets the increasing demand for locally-made produce using only high-quality ingredients.  The water we use comes from the Angus Hills.  And our delivery journeys are very short compared with most beers & lagers which are trucked long distances to reach the consumer.

Coming from the Golf Town, our beers’ names have golfing connections:  there are four brews — Mashie Niblick (a full-flavoured malty ale, at 4.2% abv); Gowfers’ Gold (a refreshing golden ale, at 3.8% abv); Driver Dark (a full-flavoured stout at 4.4% abv); and Birdie 3 (a subtely-flavoured pale brown ale at 4.1% abv). These are available in casks and in bottles.
